HB 65 which would direct the Superintendent of Public Instruction to remove
Idaho from taking the SBAC test, which is the test for Common Core achievement
standards.
I
have never been a supporter of implementing the Common Core standards in Idaho.
I understand the goal of trying to get students to achieve higher academic goals
but I don’t like the federal government involvement in the testing or
influencing the curriculum.
I
don’t know if there will be a hearing on the bill or not. Leadership may be
waiting to see what the House and Senate Education Committees do or they may
refuse to have the bill heard.
If I
have an opportunity to vote on the bill, I will support it.
